We Created Our Own Family Tree
We learnt how to say the names of all our family members in Italian and share them with our classmates. We made family trees to show our families.

We Made Some New Friends
We let our creativity shine by creating new friends and then describing them in Italian.
We learnt:
- How to describe the physical appearance of people
- How to describe the personality of people
- How gender changes Italian words

We learnt all about schools in Italy

We compared our school life to those students in Italy. We translated our timetables into Italian.
We leant:
- About the Italian culture
- About the school system in Italy

We Used Descriptions to Describe Our Families.
For our final assessment, we created a dialogue with a partner in which we described our families. We presented these in front of the class.
We learnt:

- Adjectives to describe physical appearance
- Adjectives to describe personality
- Gender and number agreement

We Hosted a Family Lunch (And You Were Invited Too!)

We hosted a family lunch and invited our family members to join in our language class. We showed off our skills by teaching them how to say hello, and introduce themselves in activities created and led by the students themselves. We introduced our family members in Italian, and shared some yummy Italian food.
We learnt:
- That we are great language teachers too!
- That parents love to learn!
- Italian food is delicious!
Next time in Year 8 Italian:
Next term, the topic for year 8 is Across the country. This will focus on Italy, its regions, famous landmarks and monuments, such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Mt Vesuvius and the floating city of Venice, and learn a little about their histories. They will learn vocabulary associated with travel and vacation as well as the culture of Italy. Students will also learn to talk about their likes and dislikes as we look at the world of Italian food and drink.
